Pyeongchang Winter Olympics closing ceremony

Article: 'Pyeongchang Olympics closing ceremony' CL makes an impressive appearance captivating the crowd

Source: 10asia via Naver

1. [+656, -61] She really had no other song she could sing? 'The Baddest Female' is not an appropriate song for a closing ceremony at all

2. [+489, -45] Well that was a bit surprising...

3. [+458, -42] Why would you ever perform 'The Baddest Female' at the Olympics? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ so f*cking random

4. [+373, -39] She looked like a witch

5. [+353, -44] This was so bad

6. [+174, -17] I honestly felt embarrassed..

7. [+169, -32] Her stage was so random and didn't fit the point of the ceremony ㅠㅠ or maybe it's art and I'm missing it

8. [+150, -18] I was embarrassed about the whole thing. Totally a song and performance choice that stood out as an error in the closing ceremony. I have no idea whose country she's even representing with this. This is a perfect miscasting... did they even see what her stages were like before hiring her?

9. [+150, -26] She looks like Cruella;;;;

10. [+133, -14] She was barely singing at all. What was this? We had no other female singer who could represent us? I don't understand why you would even pick 'The Baddest Female' for this ceremony. What was going through their minds when they cast her? This is ridiculous

-

1. [+1,907, -159] What is this... why CL, so randomly, at the closing ceremony...?? I'm pretty sure the entire nation was watching this from their homes in utter shock

2. [+1,843, -147] CL was such an error in the whole closing ceremony! Are you serious with performing 'The Baddest Female'?!

3. [+1,790, -143] F*ck, I had to rush here and comment while watching her. Is she serious? I was wondering what she'd perform since she doesn't even have a hit track and this is what she came up with? What country was she even representing? All she did was mumble in English while repeating "I'm the baddest female~" and lip syncing the whole time ㅋㅋㅋㅋ ridiculous ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ If she had nothing to perform, nothing to show off, nothing to represent her country with, the least she could've done was known her place and declined such an opportunity. She is one of the biggest errors of this amazing ceremony ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

4. [+164, -3] So can someone explain to me what 'The Baddest Female' has to do with the Pyeongchang Olympics...

5. [+152, -8] CL ㅋㅋㅋ and EXO ㅋㅋㅋ at the Olympics ㅋㅋㅋ are we serious with the idols? ㅋㅋ

6. [+142, -4] Should've just gone with Psy's 'Gangnam Style', ugh

7. [+136, -4] This was a bit cringe. Why would she pick 'The Baddest Female'!!!!!! Doesn't match the closing ceremony at all, and it didn't even excite the crowd. She was even lip syncing!!!!!

8. [+118, -3] So embarrassing that other countries were watching this... is she a dancer? At least pretend to have the mic up to your face...

9. [+111, -2] 'The Baddest Female' at the olympics..? Seriously, I never had any ill feelings toward CL or YG but this is just going too far;; this is just low class..

10. [+106, -4] This was... bad....

Article: [Official statement] Honey Lee reps, "She prepared the chun aeng moo dance in secret for the closing ceremony"

Source: OSEN via Nate

1. [+1,007, -41] She doesn't look like she'd match the hanbok at all but she's perfect for it ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ so pretty

2. [+903, -39] Wow... really pretty...

3. [+889, -35] She has a mix of both western and eastern charms. So pretty but her voice is just as charming and she's got smarts as well ㅜㅜ love how talented this unni is

4. [+42, -4] CL... ㅋ I guess the embarrassment is our own to suffer...

5. [+30, -5] I wish they did more close ups, I could barely see her ㅠ

6. [+27, -6] The best of the Miss Koreas

7. [+26, -3] What was the point of this ㅋㅋㅋ you could barely see her on screen. I would've never known she was Honey Lee.

8. [+23, -5] The quality of our closing ceremony was so bad

Article: "The power of a Hallyu idol" EXO marks the closing ceremony of the Pyeongchang Olympics

Source: OSEN via Naver

1. [+1,858, -73] They looked amazing. I was watching with my family and everyone was saying the one with the solo dance did well and that everyone was handsome ㅋㅋ

2. [+1,797, -48] You were amazing EXO!

3. [+1,732, -47] Good job EXO ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ such a proud and classy stage

4. [+1,694, -43] EXO's the best!!!

5. [+1,647, -44] EXO was the jjang ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

6. [+531, -16] So proud that EXO is representing K-Pop!!!! Amazing

7. [+518, -14] You could tell how much effort EXO put in for this. Kai gave me goosebumps the entire way through

8. [+503, -14] Amazing from start to finish! Thank you for the amazing stage EXO

9. [+483, -13] Good job, so proud!

10. [+458, -14] EXO was the jjang ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ the best ㅠㅠㅠ

1. [+990, -225] Imagine singing 'Growl' while the entire world is watching ㅋㅋ I'm seriously so embarrassed ㅋㅋㅋ isn't BTS more popular? ㅋㅋ Why did we bother with having idols for this? ㅜ growl growl!

2. [+962, -196] This was probably the worst closing ceremony ever. We really had no better singers to represent our country? None of them had any weight, and was with the lip syncing.... I heard that we're the first country in the history of the Olympics to have lip syncing in the closing ceremony..

3. [+843, -158] Is this a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. [+119, -35] Should've just cast BTS if this was going to be the end product... EXO had zero stage command...

5. [+114, -23] Why should we have to suffer this embarrassment? The stage looked too big for CL or EXO to pull off... meanwhile singers from other countries had no problem pulling off the entire stage on their own ㅠㅠ why couldn't we invite actually talented singers? Why performance singers! Was this the best we could do!!!!!!!!

6. [+112, -20] The least they could've done was line up their choreography. Did they not practice...

7. [+107, -33] EXO's an amazing group but I feel like this was a stage for Psy and BTS since they're bigger globally

8. [+107, -23] We did so well hosting all this time and then screw up with the closing ceremony... I knew we'd be getting idols but... growl? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Talk about driving me crazy ㅋㅋ Psy would've been way better

9. [+102, -26] Are they serious with 'Growl''? I was so embarrassed I couldn't even stand watching the rest. Such a drop in class.

10. [+101, -19] The closing should've been JO Soo Mi - Champion, BTS - Fire, Psy - Gangnam Style

-

Article: Honey Lee, CL, EXO make a successful finale to the Olympic Closing Ceremony

Source: Herald POP via Nate

1. [+222, -30] Seriously the absolute worst... I never thought I could be so embarrassed... I was watching with my foreign friends and was shocked at CL's performance... then lost any pride I could have in my country at all with EXO. Why in the world would they not cast Psy and BTS who are already daebaks overseas... sigh

2. [+208, -10] Events like this are usually the result of SM and YG shoving their big company power down everyone's throats for the castings ㅋㅋ YG and SM obviously pushed CL and EXO into this. If we were to cast solely based on global popularity, it should've been Psy and BTS ㅋㅋ anyway, this is so embarrassing... can't believe CL actually sang 'The Baddest Female' ugh

3. [+174, -14] This was just ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

4. [+38, -2] I expected BTS... what was up with those has beens EXO... and CL?

5. [+35, -2] The majority of Koreans were embarrassed

6. [+32, -1] EXO was honestly sad... they were performing their own song and couldn't even match up their own choreography. EXO fans better not shield this.

7. [+31, -0] Other than Honey Lee, the rest were bad... CL... EXO... jeez...

8. [+26, -1] I'm sure they all cost a pretty penny to cast.. would've been better to spend that money on supporting our arts and creating a better ending stage. Seemed like they just performed as they would at any local music show... and lip synced on top of that.

9. [+26, -1] CL and EXO, jeez... Fine, I get that lip syncing was allowed, but didn't they think it'd be embarrassing for the viewers? By comparison, remember how amazing the American singers were at the Superbowl~

10. [+24, -3] The worst closing ceremony in Olympic history. Did we really have to use idols? Idols that couldn't even sing live and had to lip sync?

MBLAQ's GO begins a full time streaming career

Article: MBLAQ's GO declares he will start a streaming career "I have my doubts about the celebrity industry... I'll be using my network"

Source: Ilgan Sports via Naver

1. [+237, -9] If he has his doubts about the industry, why is he using his connects to them?  Is it to use them for his own promotion?

2. [+194, -10] Has his "doubts" about the industry but he's using his connections to the industry to earn revenue on his stream, no? ^^ ㅎㅎ

3. [+163, -11] More like he had no place in the industry anymore with his declining popularity... it's not a job for anyone

4. [+67, -25] I support you!!! I always felt sad about MBLAQ never being more popular!! If only Rain took care of them more ㅠㅠ

5. [+38, -3] Hopeless for him to make it as a celebrity so he's making up some excuse to switch careers into streaming... hilarious how he blames the industry but then uses his connections in the industry to promote himself

-

Source: Nate

1. [+278, -37] Selling himself for stream revenue?

2. [+257, -8] Isn't YouTube better than Afreeca these days?

3. [+240, -7] Why Afreeca? It's hard to last there unless you suck up to everyone... too many top name streamers that dominate the field and who are more than willing to destroy you if you don't stand on their side.

4. [+42, -1] So he doesn't want the hard work of being a celebrity and would rather use his connections to live an easier life as a BJ?

5. [+40, -0] This really makes me lose respect for him

6. [+36, -3] Just go out and get a real job man

7. [+21, -0] Streamers make the type of money the rest of us would make in a year lately ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

8. [+21, -0] It's going to be hard to make money as a streamer when you're in a public relationship

9. [+18, -0] I think it's worth a try if you used to be a popular idol... he probably still has fans around who will donate to his stream. It's easier for him in the end. Tons of celebrities stream nowadays...

10. [+10, -0] I've noticed that celebrities on the decline end up streaming on Afreeca or YouTube. It's just the way our generation is flowing...

Anonymous actor comes forward with sexual harassment allegation against Jo Min Ki

Article: [Exclusive] Jo Min Ki sexually harassed a man too "testimony from a current actor"

Source: Ilgan Sports via Nate

1. [+1,873, -9] At this point, Jo Min Ki needs to be arrested. He's trash, utterly disgusting.

2. [+1,597, -134] Seems like he isn't satisfied sexually so he looked for other ways to express that dissatisfaction... He's older and isn't satisfied with his sex life with his wife but he's a celebrity so he can't just go to room salons... sounds like he was under a lot of sexual stress.

3. [+1,415, -4] He's not human, he's a monster

4. [+84, -1] It just proves how dirty the industry is for someone who has done such horrible things to still get roles and dramas all this time. I bet there are people worse than him out there...

5. [+79, -0] Imagine how many victims were crying silent tears while he was on that variety show as the caring dad with his daughter. Disgusting, truly disgusting.

6. [+57, -0] A true pervert...

7. [+51, -0] Disgusting that he'd use his status and power to commit such acts... he's like an onion, you peel and peel and uncover more

8. [+46, -0] What if he has erectile dysfunction? I heard people who suffer from ED but can't control their sexual desires end up committing stuff like this...

9. [+42, -0] At this point, I'm going to assume that he has committed rape at some point as well. I don't think any victim of his who is more well known or got a benefit in some way will come forward.

10. [+37, -0] It's like all he could ever think about was sex;;;;

11. [+29, -0] After reading the article, it sounds like he just humiliated men verbally... I wouldn't call that sexual assault, moreso harassment. I've noticed that people these days aren't able to differentiate between rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment. Anyway yeah, Jo Min Ki is the devil himself... ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

12. [+27, -1] I agree with another best reply, maybe he does have ED and maybe that's why we haven't had a victim come forward with a rape allegation.

Julien Kang apologizes for calling curling "floor cleaning olympics"

Article: "*** is this sport?" Julien Kang under controversy for putting down curling

Source: Sports Donga via Nate

1. [+3,619, -84] Julien~ I understand wanting to see matches of your own country but this is Korea and this curling match above all else was Korea vs Japan

2. [+3,029, -94] He should blame the broadcast channels for not playing other matches besides curling, why put down curling instead? How thoughtless of him

3. [+2,630, -59] If his problem is that curling is taking up all the channels, then he should be blaming the channels, not curling.

4. [+100, -24] His brain has no filter ㅋㅋ

5. [+98, -1] It's not right at all for him to put down an entire sport like that instead of blaming the channels for only playing curling

6. [+93, -24] I did think it was a problem that all three channels only played curling when there are foreigners living in our country. You can't just play matches that Korean athletes are in. Then other foreigners can't watch matches of their own countries.

7. [+90, -5] Can't really expect a Canadian to understand the significance of a match between Korea vs Japan. I get that it's frustrating having all the channels play curling but why take it out on the sport?

8. [+65, -4] I get being mad that he can't watch ice hockey because the channels won't play it but why put down curling as some swiffer sport? That's so disrespectful. Our curling athletes waited 8 years for this opportunity, who are you to put down what they've worked for? If you wanted to see ice hockey so bad, you should've bought the tickets for it or gone back home to Canada to watch. Why b*tch in our country about it?

-

Article: "I was thoughtless"... Julien Kang apologizes for his statement on curling

Source: Sports Chosun via Nate

1. [+623, -29] Julien-ssi, the Olympics are in Korea this year so of course our channels are going to show matches that Koreans are in, why would they show another country's match in the time that our own country is playing?

2. [+578, -32] He really doesn't think before he talks

3. [+492, -26] Please think for once in your life. How can you talk about the Olympics like that?

4. [+31, -4] Disappointed in him... he never should've said that about curling no matter how mad he was about the channels

5. [+25, -3] Go back to Canada if you like it so much... why bother living in Korea, a country that doesn't even play ice hockey on TV for you?

6. [+21, -3] Let's see you try and play curling ㅋㅋㅋ

7. [+17, -1] Is he dumb? He could've just not said anything at all

8. [+13, -1] Stop working out and go work out that brain of yours

Controversial Olympic skater Kim Boreum wins silver

Article: Kim Boreum, a deep bow to the nation

Source: Yonhap News via Nate

1. [+1,463, -448] Seeing this makes me sad... I nonetheless congratulate her for overcoming the mental pressure she must've been under and winning silver. Hopefully this is an opportunity for her to mature and grow.

2. [+1,439, -574] Congratulations nonetheless!!

3. [+1,410, -506] Despite it all, you worked hard

4. [+180, -52] She worked hard, she did, but she shouldn't be apologizing to the nation but to Noh Sun Young. I congratulate her but I recommend that she give a genuine apology to her own teammate first..

5. [+140, -57] Look at the best replies, it's pathetic that Koreans are forgiving the attacker... praising her just because she won a medal? This is why victims are too afraid to come forward ㅋㅋ I guess iljins in school can get away with anything as long as they earn good marks ㅋㅋㅋ

6. [+103, -60] Congratulate what!! She needs to learn some character before training her skills

7. [+100, -28] Should've at least said sorry to Noh Sun Young

8. [+84, -39] Wow... look at the change in reaction just because she won a medal

9. [+84, -35] She won a medal in the end... but I'm amazed at her mentality... to have won silver under all that stress.

10. [+54, -9] I feel bad for her on one hand since she won silver but will forever have the memory of it tainted by what she did, but on the other hand, I feel like she deserves the backlash that she got since she hurt someone else and that pain can't just be erased like that. None of this should've ever happened... she made too big of a mistake at too big of an event.

-

Article: Kim Boreum changes her controversy to cheers, a bow of deep apology

Source: Sports Chosun via Nate

1. [+1,260, -380] Imagine being talented enough to win silver even after your mentality came crumbling down through all that... If only she was more careful, she'd be a hero right now... Instead, reality is saying sorry after winning a medal. Such a sad situation...... Hopefully she's matured through this all. She put on a great match.

2. [+1,014, -467] I hated her so much but seeing her kneel in a bow in front of the Korean flag makes my heart hurt

3. [+955, -396] First time in my life not feeling anything over an athlete who won us a medal ㅡㅡ

4. [+88, -16] What we can learn from the comments today: it doesn't matter if you bully people as long as you get a top rank, which just proves that it isn't the victim who gets to forgive the bully but the public

5. [+72, -10] If she really reflected over this, she should approach Sun Young first and hug her in a sign of apology instead of sitting so far apart and ignoring her.

6. [+68, -16] These shields are making me throw up... if your own family member was bullied, would you be able to forgive them just because they studied hard enough to get a top rank? That's really how this works?

7. [+65, -13] She's obviously talented, why did she act in such a way... she could be getting the hero treatment right now

8. [+50, -8] So a medal forgives everything?? ㅋㅋ She should not be forgiven by the public but by Noh Sun Young. Funny how she never apologizes to her even now.

-
